Five Bodies Found Abandoned Along Orizaba-Puebla Highway, Veracruz Authorities Investigate

Post by usertopnews

On Monday, July 20, five bodies were discovered at two separate locations along the 150D Orizaba-Puebla highway, prompting an ongoing investigation by Veracruz authorities.

The first discovery happened around 3:40 p.m. near kilometer 275, between Orizaba and Ciudad Mendoza. A 911 call reported black bags in a ravine, which upon arrival were confirmed to contain four bodies in an advanced state of decomposition. Due to their condition, authorities could not identify the victims or determine their gender.

Later that same day, officials were alerted to a fifth body found near kilometer 251, on the stretch between Ciudad Mendoza and Acatzingo. Approximately 500 meters from the Maltrata interchange, the body of a man showing signs of violence was located. Like the others, he was taken to the Forensic Medical Service without identification.

Both sites were secured and guarded by federal forces, including personnel from the Navy and the National Guard.

These tragic discoveries highlight ongoing security challenges in the region, underscoring the need for comprehensive social policies and effective state intervention to protect vulnerable communities. While transportation projects like Puebla’s upcoming cable car system aim to improve connectivity and social inclusion, addressing violence remains a critical priority for the area’s development and safety.
