The creative spirit of the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) shines once again in Mexican cinema. “Techiq,” a short film written and directed by Missael Sánchez Arce, a graduate of the Cinematography program at BUAP’s Faculty of Plastic and Audiovisual Arts (FARPA), has been nominated for the Ariel Award in the Best Fiction Short Film category.

This nomination is part of the 68th edition of the Ariel Awards, the highest honor granted by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (AMACC) to outstanding national film productions.

Beyond recognizing Sánchez Arce’s individual talent, the nomination highlights the collaborative effort of BUAP students and alumni who contributed to the project, underscoring the university’s role in nurturing emerging voices in Mexican cinema.

“Techiq” will compete against other national productions for the prestigious Ariel statuette, standing out for its innovative narrative and cinematic approach.

This achievement not only elevates Missael Sánchez Arce’s career but also positions BUAP’s creative community on one of the most important stages in Mexico’s film industry, reflecting the growing impact of university-trained filmmakers in shaping the country’s cultural landscape.
