The search for Emilio N., the motorcyclist who disappeared after falling into the Valsequillo Canal near the Tecali de Herrera–Ahuatepec–Atoyatempan highway, ended tragically. His body was recovered by Civil Protection and Firefighters from Tecamachalco in the San Juan neighborhood area.
According to initial reports, Emilio left a gathering at Rancho Tecorral around 2:00 a.m. on July 12, heading toward the municipal seat of Tecali de Herrera. When contact was lost, his family began searching for him. Hours later, they found his motorcycle inside the canal and requested help from authorities.
Following the report, the State Government launched a search operation involving the General Coordination of Civil Protection and Disaster Risk Management, the Navy, State Forest Police, State Firefighters, and Municipal Civil Protection of Tecali de Herrera. They conducted patrols along both banks of the canal and inspections within the watercourse.
After several days of efforts, rescuers recovered Emilio’s body, concluding the operation. The State Attorney General’s Office is now handling the investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
This tragic event highlights the importance of coordinated emergency response and the challenges faced in rural areas. For communities relying on informal routes and limited infrastructure, such incidents underscore the need for improved safety measures and accessible emergency services.
