Cablebús in Puebla to Enhance Public Transit, Not Compete, Says Official

The upcoming Cablebús system in Puebla is designed to complement, not compete with, existing public transportation like the RUTA bus network, according to José Luis García Parra, coordinator of the state cabinet. Speaking before the Puebla State Congress, García Parra emphasized that the cable car project aims to integrate various transit options into a cohesive network that improves mobility across the metropolitan area.

He clarified that the Cablebús is part of a broader plan to connect different transportation modes, strengthening overall connectivity rather than replacing current services. This approach reflects a growing trend in urban planning to diversify transit options, especially in cities facing congestion and accessibility challenges.

García Parra also addressed some of the criticism surrounding the project, noting that much of it stems from outdated or preliminary data. “Comparing early projections with current planning details leads to misinformation,” he said, highlighting that the project’s technical studies have evolved significantly since their initial phases.

The official warned against using initial estimates as definitive facts, calling such practices misleading and harmful to public understanding. This transparency about the planning process is crucial for building trust and ensuring that the Cablebús meets the real needs of Puebla’s residents.

Looking ahead, García Parra announced that the Cablebús is expected to begin operations between October and November 2028, following the completion of planning, construction, and testing phases. For many, this new transit option promises a more inclusive and efficient way to navigate Puebla’s metropolitan area, aligning with broader goals of sustainable urban development and social equity.
