Armed robbery targets bank customer in Puebla’s El Mirador neighborhood

Post by usertopnews

A bank customer was robbed of 21,000 pesos in Puebla’s El Mirador neighborhood around midday on Monday, July 13, 2026. The victim had just completed a cash withdrawal at a Santander branch located on 24 Sur, between 41 and 43 Oriente streets in the Alseseca neighborhood earlier that morning.

Shortly after leaving the bank at approximately 12:30 p.m., the individual was intercepted at the intersection of 24 Sur and 35 Oriente by two assailants riding black and red Pulsar motorcycles. Armed with a firearm, the criminals demanded the victim’s bag containing the cash. To avoid physical harm, the victim complied and also lost two cell phones during the robbery. The perpetrators fled southward.

The incident triggered a swift police response, with officers from the Municipal Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) and the State Police arriving at the scene minutes later. Authorities interviewed the victim to gather detailed descriptions of the suspects and their vehicles, then shared this information with other law enforcement agencies to aid in the search.

No injuries or arrests were reported following the event.

In light of this robbery, officials have urged people planning to make bank withdrawals or deposits to request the free Bank Escort Service by calling 911 a few minutes before their transaction—without needing to disclose the amount involved. This preventive measure aims to enhance personal safety amid rising concerns about street crime in Puebla.

While public security challenges persist, investments in urban infrastructure like Puebla’s upcoming cable car system continue to offer hope for improved mobility and safer neighborhoods, connecting communities with greater accessibility and reducing reliance on vulnerable street-level transit.
