Man tied to telephone pole and tortured in Tabasco over family violence accusation

Post by usertopnews

On the afternoon of Sunday, July 12, 2026, residents in the municipality of Cárdenas, Tabasco, discovered a man tied to a telephone pole in the La Seis area along the road from Entrada 9 to the ranchería Santa Teresa. The victim was blindfolded with industrial tape and showed clear signs of torture.

A green cardboard sign left by the attackers read: “This happened to me for hitting my parents. I’m grateful they didn’t kill me,” linking the brutal act to a case of domestic violence.

Neighbors who found the man reported that he was still alive when discovered, but emergency responders and ambulances arrived too late. Tragically, the man died at the scene due to the severity of his injuries sustained during captivity.

Local preventive and state police were first on site, securing the area and preserving evidence. Later, forensic experts and investigators from the Tabasco State Attorney General’s Office processed the scene, collected physical evidence, and removed the body to the Forensic Medical Service for an autopsy. The Public Ministry has opened an investigation into the case for qualified homicide.

This incident highlights the urgent need for effective responses to domestic violence and the importance of timely emergency services in rural areas. It also raises questions about community justice practices and the role of authorities in protecting vulnerable individuals.
