The Puebla State Attorney General’s Office has confirmed it has identified the man suspected of carrying out a series of shootings along Vía Atlixcáyotl, a key thoroughfare in the city. Officials are preparing to request an arrest warrant to bring the alleged attacker into custody.
Idamis Pastor, the state’s Attorney General, revealed that the investigation file is nearly complete, paving the way for judicial authorization to detain the suspect. The man is believed to be responsible for at least 12 attacks, including one reported today involving a bullet wound to a Volkswagen Pointer.
This development follows statements made yesterday by Francisco Sánchez González, Puebla’s Secretary of Public Security, who told state legislators that all intelligence had been handed over to the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office and that the suspect likely acted alone.
The investigation has been bolstered by the Public Security Secretariat’s intelligence efforts, which were crucial in identifying the alleged shooter. Additionally, forensic experts recently conducted a technical reconstruction of the crime scenes using criminalistics, forensic photography, and 3D laser scanning technology. This detailed work helped map bullet trajectories and pinpoint the attacker’s position, strengthening the case against him.
While authorities have not disclosed the suspect’s identity or motives, both the Attorney General’s Office and the Public Security Secretariat expressed confidence that the arrest warrant will be issued soon, enabling the prompt detention of the individual responsible for the violent incidents on Vía Atlixcáyotl.
For residents and commuters, this progress offers hope for increased safety on one of Puebla’s busiest routes, underscoring the importance of coordinated law enforcement efforts in protecting public spaces.
