Sister of Former Pemex Chief Arrested in Agronitrogenados Corruption Case

Post by usertopnews

On Thursday, July 2, 2026, the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) detained Gilda Susana Lozoya Austin, sister of Emilio Lozoya, the former director of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), for her alleged involvement in the controversial purchase of the Agronitrogenados plant.

The arrest took place near Mexico City’s International Airport (AICM) in a coordinated operation with the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC) and the Secretaría de Marina (Marina).

According to the FGR’s investigation, Gilda Susana is suspected of handling illicit funds as a beneficiary of “Tochos Holding Limited,” a company linked to her brother Emilio Lozoya. Between June 12 and November 28, 2012, she reportedly received five large bank transfers from Altos Hornos de México, owned by Alonso Ancira Elizondo, and subsequently distributed smaller amounts to various individuals.

These transactions allegedly made her a beneficiary through the transfer of rights from Emilio Lozoya over a Swiss bank account tied to a shell company he controlled. Part of these funds were used to finance a residence in Mexico City valued at over 32 million pesos, which has already been seized under a final court ruling.

At the time of these transactions, Emilio Lozoya was aware he would soon assume leadership of Pemex, raising questions about the intertwining of political power and financial misconduct.

Gilda Susana Lozoya is now under the custody of the federal judicial authority that will determine her legal status.

This case highlights ongoing challenges in Mexico’s fight against corruption, emphasizing the need for transparent and accountable governance—issues that resonate deeply with many Mexicans both at home and abroad.
