On Wednesday around noon, two masked individuals made an unexpected ascent to the top of New York City’s iconic Empire State Building, drawing attention with a powerful message advocating for peace—and a surprise marriage proposal.

Dressed entirely in black and without visible safety gear, Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus reached the building’s pinnacle at approximately 12:00 p.m., where they unfurled a black banner bearing the words: “When the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world will know peace.”
