IMSS clarifies no pension suspensions in July 2026 despite social media rumors

Post by usertopnews

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has once again clarified that the survival certificate is no longer a mandatory requirement for all pensioners in 2026, as long as their information is up to date in the institute’s database. This statement comes in response to widespread misinformation circulating on social media claiming that thousands of pensions would be suspended in July 2026 if the certificate was not presented.

Contrary to these rumors, the IMSS confirmed that pension payments will continue uninterrupted for those with updated records, providing reassurance to many retirees worried about losing access to their funds. The removal of this requirement simplifies the process, allowing pensioners to receive their payments without the need for in-person procedures.

To check if you are exempt from submitting the survival certificate, review your latest payment stub, which will indicate whether the procedure is necessary. However, pensioners living outside Mexico must still obtain the certificate through Mexican consular offices, as the IMSS specifies.

Regarding pension payments, the official IMSS calendar states that the July 2026 pension will be paid on Wednesday, July 1, the first business day of the month. From that date, pensioners can access their funds via bank transfer or directly at bank counters, depending on their chosen payment method.

Authorities advise beneficiaries to plan their visits to bank branches ahead of time, as the first days of each month typically see a high volume of pensioners withdrawing their money.

This update reflects ongoing efforts to modernize and streamline pension services, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and supporting the financial security of Mexico’s retired population.
