Reporter Accuses Toluca Official of Sexual Abuse During Chorizo Fest Coverage

Post by usertopnews

On Friday, June 19, 2026, journalist Mafer Fabela publicly accused Justo “N,” the Secretary of the Toluca City Council, of sexual abuse during the coverage of the Chorizo Fest in Toluca, the capital of the State of Mexico. According to Fabela, while filming the event, the official allegedly touched her inappropriately without consent.

In a video shared on her social media, Fabela recounted the incident: she was raising her arm to get a better shot when the official grabbed her hand, stretched her arm, and despite her refusal, tightened his grip. He reportedly said, “What’s the worst I can do to you? This,” before repeatedly touching her body inappropriately. “I froze, made myself small, and wondered why he was doing it,” she said.

The accusation sparked widespread support from users, fellow journalists, and feminist groups demanding an impartial investigation and accountability if the claims are confirmed.

In response, the State of Mexico’s Human Rights Commission (CODHEM) announced it has opened an investigation into the allegations. The commission stressed that no public institution should tolerate or normalize behavior that violates personal dignity, perpetuates gender violence, or undermines public trust in government services.

This case highlights ongoing challenges faced by women in journalism and public spaces, underscoring the urgent need for protective measures and transparent justice processes.
