Just three days after a political crisis that paralyzed the Acatlán de Osorio City Council was resolved through a negotiation table, Mayor Guadalupe Lucero Bárcenas married Juan Alberto Domínguez López, her former municipal Public Security secretary. The marriage was officially registered on June 23, 2026, in Atlixco.

This union confirms the personal relationship that existed between the mayor and Domínguez López while he was still in charge of the security department. The 35-year-old Morena-affiliated mayor and the 28-year-old former security chief, who is also a member of the Mexican Navy from La Antigua, Veracruz, formalized their marriage under a regime of separate assets, according to the official marriage certificate (acta number 211, book two, Official Registry 3 of Atlixco).

Their wedding took place amid weeks of political unrest in Acatlán de Osorio, where Mayor Bárcenas faced opposition from a bloc of eight councilors who even occupied the city hall demanding changes in local government. One of their main demands was precisely the removal of Domínguez López from his security post.
