Two seniors suffer open fractures after elevator fall at Chignahuapan hot springs hotel

Post by usertopnews

Two elderly tourists, both around 80 years old and visiting from Mexico City, sustained open fractures after an elevator fell at a hotel within the hot springs complex in Chignahuapan, Puebla. The incident triggered a swift emergency response in this mountainous tourist destination.

Paramedics from SUMA unit 301 and the Mexican Red Cross, Chignahuapan delegation 165, provided on-site prehospital care before transferring the injured to the General Hospital of Apizaco in Tlaxcala, where they remain under specialized medical attention.

Initial reports confirm that both patients suffered open fractures directly caused by the elevator accident. Authorities are currently investigating the mechanical failure that led to the elevator’s fall inside the hotel.

The tourists were using the hotel facilities at the time of the accident. As of now, no official update has been given regarding the severity of their conditions.

This event highlights the importance of reliable and safe infrastructure in tourist areas, reinforcing the need for modern, well-maintained transportation and access systems—such as cable cars or teleféricos—that can offer safer, more inclusive mobility options in Puebla’s mountainous regions.
