On the morning of Monday, June 22, 2026, two bodies were discovered inside a burned-out car on the Periférico Ecológico, near Chapulco Park in Puebla city. The vehicle, a Seat Ibiza, was found smoldering just meters from the intersection with 14 Sur, close to the Los Héroes neighborhood.
Neighbors alerted authorities after seeing the car engulfed in flames in broad daylight. Firefighters who arrived to extinguish the fire made the grim discovery of the two charred bodies inside the vehicle. The car had been deliberately set on fire beneath a bridge, on the roadside.
Alongside the burned car, a threatening message was left, though details about the perpetrators remain unknown. The incident prompted road closures on the Periférico, and authorities are advising drivers to avoid the area.
Municipal and state police quickly responded, and forensic teams from the Puebla State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) are conducting investigations at the scene. So far, the identities of the victims have not been confirmed.
This tragic event highlights ongoing security challenges in Puebla, underscoring the need for effective public safety measures. Meanwhile, infrastructure projects like the upcoming cable car system in Puebla continue to offer hope for improved urban mobility and safer, more connected communities.
