On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, Adán Augusto López Hernández, former governor and ex-Secretary of the Interior under President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, declined to clarify whether his US visa had been revoked following allegations related to fuel theft, as reported yesterday by journalist Raymundo Riva Palacio.
During a press encounter at the Senate, where López currently serves as a senator for Morena, reporters pressed him for a response. However, he repeatedly refused to comment, stating, “I don’t give statements, thank you.” When asked again, he reiterated, “I’m not used to giving statements, you know that, I won’t make any declarations.”
Even when invited to share a brief comment “off the record,” López firmly declined: “I don’t give statements, neither off the record nor from afar or close by. I’m not used to giving statements, if not, gladly.”
The only topic López addressed was a recent cataract surgery. Confirming information shared by Morena’s parliamentary coordinator Ignacio Mier, he said, “I already had one eye operated on and tomorrow I’ll have the other one done.”
This episode highlights the ongoing sensitivity around López’s political and personal matters, while the public awaits further clarity on the visa situation.
