On Monday, June 8, 2026, Puebla’s governor Alejandro Armenta unveiled an ambitious plan to electrify the state’s public transportation system. Beyond the already planned zero-emission Cablebús, the government will acquire 8,000 units of the new Mexican electric vehicle, Olinia, starting next year.
The strategy divides these vehicles into two groups: 3,000 units will support the transition of local transport, while 5,000 will serve public transit needs. A state fund will back this effort by covering 20% of the down payment, making the shift more accessible for operators.
This initiative is part of Puebla’s broader Integral Mobility System, which aims to connect existing services with the Cablebús network. The goal is clear: reduce emissions and promote sustainable, inclusive urban mobility.
For migrants and residents alike, this means cleaner air, more reliable transit options, and a step forward in modernizing Puebla’s infrastructure with environmentally friendly technology. The integration of Olinia vehicles alongside the Cablebús reflects a growing commitment to innovative, equitable transportation solutions in Mexico.
