A deadly accident occurred this Sunday morning, May 31, 2026, on Vía Atlixcáyotl near the La Vista residential area. According to reports, the driver allegedly lost control of a Volkswagen Vento, which then collided with the central median and overturned.
Emergency responders from San Andrés Cholula firefighters, ambulance services, traffic proximity units, tow trucks, and both State and Highway Police are currently working at the scene, which remains cordoned off for investigation and safety.
Two additional people were reportedly injured in the crash. Authorities noted that the Volkswagen was speeding at the time of the accident.
This stretch of Vía Atlixcáyotl is known for frequent accidents despite the presence of speed radars. Many of these incidents involve vehicles with license plates from other states, which are often exempt from traffic fines issued through automated speed cameras.
For migrants and residents navigating Puebla’s roads, this highlights ongoing challenges in road safety enforcement and the need for stronger measures to protect all drivers and passengers.
