After 11 days of searching, the body of Juana Margarita N., a 45-year-old DiDi driver, was found in a state of decomposition. She had been missing since May 9, after taking a ride request to Apizaco.
The discovery was made in vacant lots in the community of San Miguel Contla, Santa Cruz Tlaxcala. A passerby walking along the road to Temazcalatla noticed a foul odor and alerted authorities via the 911 emergency service.
Police responded and confirmed the presence of a woman’s body, securing the area and notifying the relevant authorities. Shortly after, personnel from the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Missing and Unlocated Persons, in coordination with the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Feminicides, arrived to lead the initial investigation. Despite the advanced state of decomposition, authorities confirmed that the clothing found—black blouse, black pants, and white sneakers—matched what Juana Margarita was last seen wearing.
Juana Margarita was last seen in the early morning hours of May 9, after finishing a ride in a black Hyundai i10. She had picked up the vehicle in San Benito Xaltocan, Yauhquemehcan, with a destination in San Rafael Atlixtac, Apizaco. Hours after her disappearance, her work vehicle was found abandoned, prompting her family and fellow drivers to share her missing person flyer widely on social media.
Forensic experts from the Institute of Forensic Sciences (INCIFO) recovered the body and transferred it to the Apizaco morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause and timeline of death.
Authorities have opened investigation file FG-AIFEPDNL/56/2026. No arrests have been reported, but specialized prosecutors are pursuing multiple lines of investigation to clarify this case of femicide.
