Ignacio Mier, coordinator of Morena senators, explained that Inzunza submitted his leave request just three hours before the extraordinary Senate session scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2026. This session aims to approve constitutional reforms related to the Judiciary and to annul elections influenced by foreign interference. According to Mier, Inzunza did not want to participate in what he called \u201cthe show\u201d orchestrated by PAN members.<\/p>\n
Facing constant media presence in the Senate, where reporters have been waiting since morning to see him, Inzunza accused right-wing media and their representatives of launching a \u201cmedia assault.\u201d Despite stepping back from plenary sessions, he will remain in the Senate offices and continue to support Morena with opinions and arguments during committee meetings and the plenary.<\/p>\n
His substitute, Omar L\u00f3pez Campos, will attend the Senate session starting at 3:00 p.m. this Thursday. The Senate\u2019s Political Coordination Board, led by Ignacio Mier, and the Board of Directors, chaired by Laura Itzel Castillo, have private office areas connected directly to the \u201cPasos Perdidos\u201d corridor leading to the plenary hall.
