Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Beltr\u00e1n, son of former president Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador, has officially stepped down as Morena\u2019s National Executive Organization Secretary to seek a congressional seat in Tabasco. The announcement was made through a letter addressed to party leaders and members.<\/p>\n
In his letter, L\u00f3pez Beltr\u00e1n emphasized his continued support for the Fourth Transformation (4T) project and for President Claudia Sheinbaum\u2019s administration. He wrote, \u201cIn line with what was agreed at the VII Ordinary Session of our party\u2019s National Council, I have decided to step down from my position as National Executive Organization Secretary of Morena and as a member of the National Elections Commission.\u201d<\/p>\n
L\u00f3pez Beltr\u00e1n explained his decision: \u201cI have decided that, at the appropriate time, according to our party\u2019s calls and electoral law, I will run for Federal Deputy for the VI Federal Electoral District of Tabasco, which includes the municipalities of Centro, Jalapa, Tacotalpa, and Teapa.\u201d<\/p>\n
In his resignation letter, L\u00f3pez Beltr\u00e1n also presented a summary of achievements during his year and seven months in the role:<\/p>\n
– 10 million new members added to Morena\u2019s registry
\n– Nearly 7 million new members credentialed, with 300 credentialing modules set up in each Federal Electoral District
\n– Sectional Committees established in 69,396 electoral sections, covering 97% of the national total
\n– Municipal Councils formed in 1,952 municipalities, representing 97.60% of municipalities with party systems (with this activity set to conclude on May 31)
\n– Over 272 evaluation and organization assemblies held nationwide with party coordinators<\/p>\n
\u201cThese actions allow us to proudly say that our party is the largest political organization in Mexico\u2019s history and one of the largest in the world. Above all, it is one of the most organized,\u201d L\u00f3pez Beltr\u00e1n stated.<\/p>\n
He reaffirmed his commitment to Morena, noting that while he is leaving the National Executive Committee, his dedication to the party\u2019s ideals remains strong. \u201cI want to reaffirm my commitment, recognition, and support for our president Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, the best President of Mexico and the world, who leads the Fourth Transformation with determination, conviction, and historical vision. She has my absolute solidarity, discipline, and loyalty. Together, we will continue to fight for this historic process.\u201d<\/p>\n
