A new crime trend has sparked concern in Puebla after a woman discovered a GPS tracker attached to her car while she was exercising in Parque del Arte, located in the metropolitan area of Puebla. The incident occurred on the morning of Tuesday, May 20.<\/p>\n
The woman, identified as Eimy N., shared her experience on social media. According to her account, after finishing her workout, her phone alerted her to the presence of an unknown Bluetooth device nearby. Initially, she ignored the notification, but as the alerts continued throughout the day, she decided to investigate further that night at home.<\/p>\n
Eimy learned that Android devices have a security feature that detects unfamiliar Bluetooth devices that remain close to the user. Following the app\u2019s instructions, she activated an acoustic signal from the device and found it magnetically attached to the chassis of her vehicle, on the passenger side. The tracker was wrapped in black electrical tape to hide its indicator light.<\/p>\n
The device was identified as a Ugreen Fine Tracker, a real-time locator sold on platforms like Amazon in packs of five for about 587 pesos. Out of fear of continued tracking, Eimy destroyed the device with a hammer.<\/p>\n
Her phone\u2019s app indicated that the tracking began at 10:00 a.m., matching the time she was at the park. Eimy noted that the parking lot was almost empty at that hour, with only security staff present. She refrained from making direct accusations but commented, \u201cI don\u2019t want to think badly of the security staff, but they\u2019re always very attentive to who stays in their car for a long time.\u201d Security inside Parque del Arte is managed by the Polic\u00eda Auxiliar.<\/p>\n
