The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has sanctioned Mexican sprinter Yamile Herrera after she tested positive for a banned substance during the World Relays held earlier this year in Gaborone, Botswana. <\/p>\n
On May 2, 2026, Herrera underwent a urine test following her participation in the mixed 4×100 relay, which revealed the presence of oxandrolone, a prohibited anabolic steroid. The AIU informed Herrera of the positive result, and on June 10, she admitted to violating anti-doping regulations. <\/p>\n
At 26 years old, Herrera accepted the consequences and will serve a three-year suspension starting June 3, 2026. All her results from May 2 onward have been annulled. <\/p>\n
The AIU also noted that Mexico\u2019s National Anti-Doping Committee retains the right to appeal this decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. <\/p>\n
