Over the weekend, federal forces carried out a major operation in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, seizing 24,400 liters of liquid methamphetamine\u2014the largest confiscation of this type during the current administration and the second largest ever recorded in Mexico\u2019s history. <\/p>\n
The announcement came through social media from Omar Garc\u00eda Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, who emphasized that these actions disrupt the mass production of synthetic drugs, directly weaken the operational and financial capabilities of criminal groups, and strengthen national security. <\/p>\n
Garc\u00eda Harfuch also shared that President Claudia Sheinbaum has instructed authorities to continue dismantling clandestine labs, cutting production chains, and preventing these substances from reaching the streets. <\/p>\n
The operation involved personnel from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard (GN), and the Attorney General\u2019s Office (FGR). Alongside the liquid meth seizure, Jorge \u201cN,\u201d a suspected member of the Pacific Cartel, was arrested at the site. <\/p>\n
Inside the property, authorities also secured 98,640 liters and 59,425 kilograms of chemical precursors used in synthetic drug production, as well as two vehicles, rifle magazines, and ammunition of various calibers. <\/p>\n
Altogether, the drugs and materials confiscated represent an economic blow to organized crime exceeding 9 billion pesos. <\/p>\n
This raid is part of a broader federal strategy aimed at dismantling clandestine laboratories and disrupting synthetic drug supply chains, especially in Sinaloa\u2014a state recognized as a key hub for methamphetamine and fentanyl production in Mexico. <\/p>\n
In recent months, federal forces have intensified efforts to seize labs and precursor chemicals in Pacific states such as Sinaloa, Sonora, Durango, Nayarit, and Michoac\u00e1n, where criminal groups manufacture synthetic drugs primarily destined for the U.S. market. <\/p>\n
Liquid methamphetamine is a preferred form for criminal organizations because it facilitates transport and can later be converted into crystal meth through relatively simple chemical processes, making detection during transit more difficult. <\/p>\n
