This update was announced during a press conference led by Governor Alejandro Armenta and José Luis García Parra, the state cabinet coordinator.

Originally, the cable car’s southern terminus was planned near 11 Sur, but the station will now be relocated to a site in Mayorazgo. This change increases the total length of the system to 14.58 kilometers, making it one of the longest cable car networks in Mexico.

This expansion is more than just a number—it reflects a strategic effort to improve public transportation coverage in Puebla’s southern neighborhoods, which have seen significant residential and commercial growth. By connecting Mayorazgo to the existing node at CIS Angelópolis, the system will better serve densely populated and economically active zones.

The Cablebús route links key points across the city, including Angelópolis, Parque Juárez, CENHCH, Parque Ecológico, Xonaca, Parque Biblioteca, Amalucan, and the stadium area. The state government emphasizes that this project aims to reduce travel times, ease congestion on busy roads, and complement Puebla’s current public transit network.

As of June 22, 2026, technical work and studies continue on schedule, with final station designs expected to be unveiled soon. If the extension proceeds as planned, the Cablebús will not only cover more ground but also increase the number of users benefiting from this inclusive and sustainable mobility solution—one of the flagship infrastructure projects of the current administration.

For migrants and residents alike, this means better access to jobs, education, and services, reinforcing the role of public transit as a tool for social equity and urban integration in Puebla.

The Cablebús project in Puebla is set to grow significantly, with a new extension that will add 1.17 kilometers to its route, reaching the rapidly developing area of Mayorazgo.
