García Parra emphasized that this timeline was always expected, dismissing any claims of delay.

The Cablebús initiative stems from Puebla’s Comprehensive Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and demand studies that confirmed the system’s viability and necessity as part of a new metropolitan mobility framework. Over the past months, more than 26 specialized technical studies have been conducted, allowing adjustments to expand the system’s reach.

Notably, García Parra revealed that next week there could be important modifications to one of the transfer stations, aiming to serve a larger number of neighborhoods and users. The final layout of the nine stations and updates on permits and licenses will also be announced soon.

This cable car system will be fully electric, aligning with environmental goals while offering thousands of residents faster, safer, and more affordable transportation options. It will complement Puebla’s Integrated Mobility System alongside RUTA bus lines and the city’s growing network of bike lanes.

Meanwhile, José Chedraui Budib, Puebla’s mayor, confirmed ongoing efforts between the city and state governments to finalize the donation of land parcels needed for the Cablebús construction. This includes a portion of Parque Juárez, currently under review.

The municipal government recently established the Municipal Council for Urban Development and Housing on June 12, 2026, tasked with analyzing urban planning changes related to the project, such as land use modifications and property transfers. The council is led by the mayor and includes key officials from urban planning, environment, mobility, and public services departments.

For Puebla’s migrant and international communities, the Cablebús represents more than just infrastructure—it’s a step toward inclusive, sustainable urban living that reduces commute times and environmental impact, while fostering equitable access to the city’s opportunities.

On Monday, June 15, 2026, the Puebla state government announced significant progress on the Cablebús project, a cable car system designed to improve urban mobility by connecting more neighborhoods across the city.
