On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Francisco Sánchez González, head of Puebla’s State Public Security Secretariat, clarified that no citizen has formally reported incidents related to the alleged “sharpshooter” in the Atlixcáyotl area. Despite the absence of complaints, the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) has opened an investigation on its own initiative and is actively monitoring the situation.
During a press conference, Sánchez González emphasized that while no one has come forward to confirm the events before the authorities, the case is under continuous and documented review. He assured that the Public Security Secretariat and the FGE are working closely together to follow up on the matter.
Since the first reports, approximately eight incidents have been recorded and analyzed within the state agency’s investigative framework. To enhance public safety, preventive measures and increased police presence have been implemented in Atlixcáyotl, aiming to protect residents and prevent further occurrences.
The official highlighted the importance of coordinated efforts between the Public Security Secretariat and the FGE to clarify the facts and provide reassurance to the community. “We are working jointly, maintaining a constant presence in the area and carrying out prevention actions. Our priority is to resolve this issue and ensure citizen safety,” he stated.
Addressing rumors circulating on social media about alleged firearm attacks, Sánchez González noted that some cases have been dismissed after reviewing evidence. For example, a video showing a supposed green laser was determined not to be related to a firearm.
Finally, he confirmed that the area remains under active and reinforced surveillance. The investigation is ongoing, and certain operational details are being withheld to avoid compromising the process.
This approach reflects a commitment to public security through transparent communication and proactive state intervention, crucial for communities navigating safety concerns in Puebla.
