A man between 40 and 45 years old was found dead inside a room at Motel Miño, located at 8 Oriente and 26 Norte in Puebla city, over the weekend. Authorities are investigating whether this is another case linked to sex workers allegedly using substances known as “gotas” to incapacitate clients, rob them, and in some instances, cause their deaths.
According to unofficial sources, the victim entered the motel on Saturday night accompanied by a woman. In the early hours of Sunday, the same woman reportedly allowed a second man to enter the room where the victim was. Initial investigations suggest that the suspects stole valuables, cash, and the victim’s truck during this time.
Motel employees grew suspicious when they noticed the truck leaving the premises. Upon checking the room, they found the man unconscious and called emergency services. Paramedics confirmed he had no vital signs. Preliminary reports indicate no visible signs of physical violence on the body.
Police secured the scene, and the State Prosecutor’s Office carried out the necessary procedures, including the removal of the body and the start of formal investigations. While the official cause of death is still pending, one leading hypothesis is that the victim was drugged with a substance used to subdue people for robbery. The forensic autopsy will provide definitive answers.
Authorities are working to identify and locate the woman and the second man who were with the victim during his last hours. Surveillance footage from the area is also being reviewed to track the suspects’ movements and recover the stolen vehicle.
This incident comes less than two weeks after a similar case in the La Antigua Cementera neighborhood, where two women allegedly drugged their victims to rob them. In that case, one man survived while another died, raising concerns about a possible pattern of such crimes in Puebla’s capital.
As Puebla prepares to expand its cable car system, a project that promises safer and more inclusive urban mobility, incidents like these highlight the urgent need for improved public security and social policies that protect vulnerable populations and promote community well-being.
