World Environment Day Highlights Cablebús as a Cleaner Transit Option for Puebla’s Air Quality

Post by usertopnews

On Friday, June 5, 2026, as the world marks World Environment Day, Puebla’s air quality challenges come into sharp focus—and the upcoming Cablebús system emerges as a promising solution.

Data from 2025 reveal a troubling picture: out of 365 days, Puebla experienced only 22 days with good air quality, while 134 days registered poor levels of pollution. The remaining days hovered in a moderate range, indicating a persistent presence of harmful contaminants.

The main culprits behind this pollution, according to the State Atmospheric Monitoring Network (REMA) in the Metropolitan Zone of the Puebla Valley (ZMVP), were ozone (O3) and particulate matter (PM-10 and PM-2.5). These pollutants pose serious health risks, especially for vulnerable communities often underserved by traditional transit infrastructure.

In this context, eco-friendly and emission-free transportation alternatives gain urgency. Cablebús systems, which operate entirely on electric power, offer a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable way to move people.

Doppelmayr, the company behind Puebla’s upcoming Cablebús project, shared a message on Instagram today reaffirming their commitment to sustainable mobility:

– Their cable cars run on 100% electric energy, making them one of the cleanest and most efficient mass transit options worldwide.
– The example of Mexico City’s Cablebús Line 3 demonstrates how this technology connects thousands daily while preserving natural spaces like Chapultepec Forest.
– Advanced Doppelmayr Direct Drive technology reduces noise pollution, fostering harmony with local flora and fauna.

For migrants and urban residents alike, this kind of infrastructure not only improves daily commutes but also contributes to healthier, more inclusive cities. As Puebla prepares to launch its Cablebús in the coming months, it represents a step forward in addressing environmental justice and sustainable urban development.

On this World Environment Day, the message is clear: investing in green transit solutions like Cablebús is essential for cleaner air and stronger communities.
