Narco tunnel connecting Tijuana and San Diego seized with advanced technology system

Post by usertopnews

Over the weekend, authorities secured a sophisticated narco tunnel linking Tijuana, Mexico, to San Diego, California. The operation involved coordinated efforts from the Mexican Navy (Secretaría de Marina), the Federal Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía General de la República), the State Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía General del Estado), and the National Guard (Guardia Nacional).

Located in the Nueva Tijuana neighborhood, the tunnel measures approximately 6.3 meters deep and stretches 250 meters in length. It was equipped with electric lighting, ventilation systems, and an electric sliding platform designed to transport people and objects—likely including narcotics—clandestinely into U.S. territory.

During the raid, authorities also found:
– Four firearm cartridges
– Bank cards
– Three mobile phones
– A video surveillance system
– Various identification documents
– Over 20 doses of methamphetamine
– A bag containing cannabis

The property was handed over to the Federal Public Ministry in Baja California for violations of the Federal Law on Firearms and Explosives and the General Health Law. The tunnel’s suspected use included trafficking people, drugs, weapons, explosives, cash, and other items.

The National Guard is currently guarding the site, which is believed to have been operational for several months under the control of criminal groups active in Baja California.

This is not the first time a residence or business in Nueva Tijuana has been used to build tunnels connecting to San Diego. In June 2025, U.S. authorities discovered the tunnel’s exit on their side and alerted Mexican security forces. This led to a search on Gustavo Campa Street in Nueva Tijuana, where a similar tunnel with electrical wiring, lighting, ventilation, and transport rails was found.

For migrants and border communities, these tunnels highlight ongoing challenges in cross-border security and the complex dynamics of illicit trafficking that impact both sides of the border.
