“Atlixcáyotl Shooter” Strikes Again: New Bullet Attacks on Vehicles Raise Alarm in Puebla

Post by usertopnews

On the evening of Tuesday, May 26, 2026, a driver of a white Jetta became the latest victim of the so-called “Atlixcáyotl Shooter” in Puebla. Fortunately, no one was injured, but the incident has reignited concerns about a series of shootings targeting vehicles along the busy Vía Atlixcáyotl.

This marks the third reported case in recent weeks, following earlier attacks on a gray and a red vehicle near the Osa Mayor bridge. The driver recounted hearing a sudden impact while driving, only to later discover a bullet hole in the driver’s door and the projectile lodged in the seat after reaching a nearby shopping center.

Authorities, led by Secretary of Public Security Vice Admiral Francisco Sánchez González, suspect the shots are fired from buildings close to the roadway. However, the bullet holes found so far do not show a high angle of entry, leaving the investigation open as officials plan to increase patrols in the area.

These attacks are part of a troubling pattern in Puebla’s southern capital, with similar incidents reported not only on Vía Atlixcáyotl but also on Periférico Ecológico and Recta a Cholula. In one previous case, a bullet pierced a car door and embedded itself in the seat, yet no injuries have been reported in any of these events.

For residents and commuters in Puebla, these shootings are a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges in urban spaces and the urgent need for effective public safety measures. The authorities’ response in the coming days will be crucial to restoring confidence and protecting those who rely on these major thoroughfares daily.
