Scheduled for Tuesday, July 28, the ceremony marks the start of Fujimori’s controversial five-year term (2026-2031) following her narrow victory in the July 3 runoff election against leftist Roberto Sánchez. The event will also include official protocol activities from July 27 to 29.

Just last Thursday, July 17, Fujimori met with interim President José María Balcázar at the Government Palace, a day after receiving her official credentials from the National Jury of Elections (JNE). “We are concerned about the arrival of El Niño and must directly confront crime to restore order,” Fujimori said, addressing two of the most pressing issues for Peruvians.
