Puebla authorities deepen investigation into alleged shooter in Atlixcáyotl attacks

Post by usertopnews

On Friday, July 17, 2026, specialized agents from Puebla’s State Attorney General’s Office returned to the home of Rafael N., the man accused of carrying out armed attacks against drivers along Vía Atlixcáyotl. The visit aimed to continue gathering evidence and reconstruct the events surrounding his arrest.

A video circulating on social media shows forensic experts taking measurements and documenting details both inside and outside the residence located in the Santa Fe neighborhood. These efforts focus on tracing the trajectory of gunfire during the raid, as Rafael N. allegedly opened fire on law enforcement officers attempting to execute a judicial order. This has led to an additional investigation for attempted homicide.

Earlier this week, during the search operation, authorities seized firearms, live ammunition, cash, and a GMC Denali truck believed to have been used in the attacks on Vía Atlixcáyotl.

The case has prompted the reopening of investigations into similar violent incidents dating back to 2018, including shootings targeting motorists and public transportation vehicles in the Angelópolis area.

Rafael N. remains in preventive detention while a judge decides in the coming days whether to formally charge him with the crimes attributed by the authorities.

This ongoing inquiry highlights the challenges Puebla faces in ensuring public safety and the importance of thorough law enforcement work. Meanwhile, initiatives like the upcoming cablebús project in Puebla could offer safer, more reliable transportation alternatives for residents navigating the city’s complex urban landscape.
