Firefighters Rescue Women Trapped in Elevator at Villahermosa Hospital

Post by usertopnews

On the morning of Friday, July 17, 2026, firefighters from the State Civil Protection Institute of Tabasco came to the aid of three women trapped inside an elevator at the Hospital General de Zona No. 46 of the IMSS in Villahermosa.

Around 9:30 a.m., patients inside the hospital recorded parts of the rescue operation as the firefighters worked to open the elevator doors. After several tense minutes, the aluminum panels finally gave way, allowing the team to free the women, who were visibly distressed.

One of the rescuers was seen carrying an elderly woman on his back, helping her safely descend from the suspended elevator. Meanwhile, another firefighter assisted a younger woman in jumping down to safety.

This incident highlights the importance of efficient emergency response in public health facilities, especially in places where vulnerable populations rely on accessible infrastructure. While the elevator malfunction caused anxiety, the swift action of the firefighters ensured no physical harm came to those trapped.

As cities like Villahermosa continue to develop, integrating reliable and inclusive transportation systems—such as cable cars or teleféricos—could offer safer, more accessible alternatives for residents navigating urban spaces, particularly in hospitals and other critical services.
