A disturbing incident unfolded in Puebla on Thursday, July 16, when a motorist was reportedly chased and struck three times by the driver of a 2016 Nissan Versa with license plates UDX-548A. The aggressive driver allegedly reversed on the Puebla-Orizaba highway, endangering not only the victim but also numerous other drivers and families traveling the route.
According to the victim’s testimony shared on social media, the first collision happened near Soriana Bosques de San Sebastián. Instead of stopping, the Nissan driver hit the victim again near Secundaria Técnica 50. The situation escalated dangerously when both vehicles reached the highway, where the suspect reversed for several meters before fleeing the scene.
What has sparked widespread outrage is the victim’s claim that despite calling emergency services twice via 911 during the pursuit, no police or security assistance arrived. This raises serious concerns about the responsiveness of emergency systems in Puebla, especially amid rising incidents of aggressive driving and road violence in the metropolitan area.
The victim’s car suffered severe damage, essentially being totaled after the multiple impacts. Following the viral spread of the case, social media users have shared photos and the license plate of the gray Nissan Versa to help authorities identify the vehicle.
So far, no official statement has been made by security forces regarding the vehicle’s location or any arrests connected to the case. This episode highlights ongoing challenges in public safety and emergency response, underscoring the need for effective policing and community protection measures in Puebla.
While the city continues to explore innovative transport solutions like the upcoming cablebús system, which promises safer and more sustainable mobility options, incidents like this remind us of the urgent need to address road safety and emergency service gaps comprehensively.
