Early on Tuesday morning, security forces carried out a tense operation in the Santa Fe neighborhood of Angelópolis, Puebla, to apprehend Rafael Z., the alleged shooter linked to multiple attacks on motorists along Vía Atlixcáyotl. New videos from the raid reveal the moment Rafael Z. opened fire on officers from the Fiscalía General del Estado, who were supported by the State Police, National Guard, Army, and Navy.

The footage captures a barrage of gunfire as law enforcement entered the property, with nearby residents recording the intense scene from their homes. This armed resistance forced authorities to deploy a tactical operation to secure the suspect.

Following the arrest, officials confiscated a firearm that will undergo ballistic testing to determine if it was used in the recent shootings that have alarmed drivers on Vía Atlixcáyotl over the past months.

Later that same day, the Fiscalía conducted a second search at a property on 27 Poniente, between 29 and 31 Poniente streets, believed to be connected to the suspect’s operations.
