The Mexican Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) revealed important updates for the upcoming 2026-2027 school cycle during the “Mañanera del Pueblo” press conference. Mario Delgado, the head of SEP, confirmed that summer vacation will begin this Wednesday, July 15, marking the official close of the current school year.

Delgado took a moment to congratulate students of all ages who advanced to the next grade, encouraging them to continue their educational journey.

Looking ahead, the new school year is set to start on August 31, 2026. However, teachers are expected to return earlier, on July 24, for an intensive phase of the School Technical Council meetings.

One notable change for the 2026-2027 calendar is the timing of grade submissions. Delgado explained that report cards will now be delivered one week before the school year ends, a shift aimed at improving the academic process. The school year is projected to conclude on July 9, 2027.

As of now, SEP has yet to publish the official calendar for the next cycle, but these announcements provide a clear framework for students, educators, and families preparing for the year ahead.

This adjustment reflects ongoing efforts to optimize the education system in Mexico, ensuring smoother transitions and better planning for all involved.
