A tragic road incident unfolded on Monday, July 13, 2026, in Tlalnepantla, where a motorist lost his life after being run over by a truck driver who fled the scene. The confrontation began on the Mexico-Querétaro Highway and ended near Avenida Jesús Reyes Heroles, close to the Valle Ceylan housing complex.
According to witnesses and the victim’s wife, the motorist was driving a gray Nissan Sentra when the truck rear-ended his car. Instead of stopping to resolve the situation, the truck driver attempted to escape. The victim pursued the truck and caught up with it at the mentioned location, where he got out of his car to confront the truck driver and demand responsibility for the damage.
Tragically, the truck driver did not stop. When the motorist stood in front of the truck, the driver accelerated and ran him over, causing severe injuries to his legs, arms, and chest. The victim died on the spot due to the extent of his wounds, including fractured bones and internal injuries.
The truck then struck the Nissan Sentra again before fleeing, leaving the car facing the opposite direction on the road. The victim’s brother arrived shortly after being alerted, only to find his relative lying on the pavement, covered in grease and blood. A bystander described the scene as horrific, noting how the victim’s body appeared to have been dragged multiple times.
Local police and the National Guard quickly secured the area and managed traffic, but despite a strong search operation, the truck driver remains at large.
The victim’s wife recounted the ordeal to authorities, describing how she and her husband were driving on the northern ring road when the truck hit them from behind. She witnessed the fatal moment and tried to help her husband after he was run over, but paramedics confirmed he had already died due to the severity of his injuries.
This incident highlights ongoing challenges in road safety and accountability in the region. While public transportation projects like Puebla’s cablebús offer safer, more sustainable alternatives, incidents like this underscore the urgent need for better regulation and enforcement on highways to protect all road users.
