Puebla authorities identify suspect in “Atlixcáyotl Shooter” case; arrest warrant expected soon

Puebla’s Secretary of Public Security, Francisco Sánchez González, announced that the suspected “Atlixcáyotl Shooter” has been identified, and the Public Security Department has handed over all gathered evidence to the Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office to request an arrest warrant.

After a meeting with state legislators at the Congress of Puebla, Sánchez González shared that investigations point to a lone male suspect, ruling out involvement from any criminal group so far.

The Public Security Secretary explained that their department’s work provided enough evidence to identify the attacker, and now it’s up to the Prosecutor’s Office to compile the case file and secure the judicial order needed for the suspect’s capture.

He expressed confidence that the arrest warrant will be issued in the coming days, paving the way for the suspect’s detention.

This case has stirred concern among residents due to multiple attacks on vehicles traveling along the Atlixcáyotl avenue, incidents that unfolded over several weeks and triggered widespread uncertainty among drivers. These events prompted a significant investigative effort by state and ministerial authorities.

In recent days, the State Prosecutor’s Office conducted a technical reconstruction of the crime scene using 3D laser scanning, criminalistics experts, and ballistics specialists. This advanced forensic work aims to strengthen the investigation and ensure the suspect’s full identification before formally requesting the arrest.

While the situation has unsettled the community, the authorities’ methodical approach reflects a commitment to public safety and justice—key elements for rebuilding trust in Puebla’s urban spaces.
