Man Tries to Escape by Climbing Utility Pole, Ends Up Stuck for Over Six Hours in Chimalhuacán

Post by usertopnews

In a bizarre incident in Chimalhuacán, State of Mexico, a man suspected of burglary found himself trapped on a utility pole for more than six hours after attempting to flee from a home he was trying to break into.

The event unfolded in the Barrio Tabatarleros when a woman from the targeted household heard strange noises coming from the roof. She noticed at least two individuals trying to enter through the rooftop and quickly alerted her family. This was not the first time their home had been targeted, so the family turned on the lights and called for help from neighbors.

One suspect managed to escape, but the second tried to descend by climbing down a utility pole and became stuck among the cables. When local police arrived following the neighbors’ report, the man resisted coming down and clung tightly to the pole to avoid capture.

Because of the height and the risk involved, specialized personnel were called in. Civil Protection officers ensured there were no electrical or fall hazards, while firefighters used rescue equipment to safely bring the man down. The rescue operation lasted over six hours, during which the suspect remained holding onto the pole as neighbors watched the scene unfold.

Once safely on the ground, the man was handed over to municipal police officers waiting below. He was then taken to the Chimalhuacán Justice Center and placed under the custody of the State of Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office, which has opened an investigation into the case.

This incident highlights the challenges local authorities face in ensuring community safety, and the importance of coordinated emergency response teams in managing unusual situations. For residents in areas like Chimalhuacán, community vigilance combined with effective public services remains key to deterring crime and protecting neighborhoods.
