After 11 harrowing days, rescuers found and saved four people alive in the OPP Caribe building in Caraballeda, La Guaira, following the devastating double earthquake that struck on Wednesday, June 24.

The rescue took place around 9:00 pm on Sunday, July 5. Among the survivors were a young man, a woman, and two small children. Videos shared on social media captured the emotional moment when rescuers first made contact with those trapped. In the audio, emergency workers calmly urged the survivors to stay still while they carefully planned their extraction.

Once contact was established, rescue teams worked swiftly to free the four individuals. They were given urgent prehospital care and transported by ambulance to medical centers for further evaluation.

This rescue comes amid ongoing emergency efforts following two powerful earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, which struck just 39 seconds apart on June 24. According to the latest government report, the disaster has claimed at least 3,342 lives and injured 16,700 people.

The twin earthquakes are the deadliest Venezuela has experienced in the last century, impacting Caracas and six northern states, with La Guaira among the hardest hit areas.
