Carlos Bonavides Announces Run for Morena Deputy Seat, Embracing Political Comeback

Post by usertopnews

At 85 years old, Carlos Bonavides, best known for his iconic role as “Huicho Domínguez,” is stepping back into the political arena with ambitions to become a deputy under the Movimiento de Regeneración Nacional (Morena) party.

In a recent interview in Mexico City, Bonavides made it clear that although Morena’s leadership has not yet reached out to him formally, he remains determined. “I’m looking everywhere… my goal is to be a deputy, I will be a deputy, I will be a deputy for Morena,” he stated confidently. His political experience includes serving as a councilor in the Azcapotzalco borough, a role that adds weight to his current aspirations.

Addressing rumors about financial troubles following the end of his public office tenure, Bonavides firmly denied being bankrupt. He described himself as “a man of struggle,” continuously seeking work opportunities to sustain his income independently.

Moreover, Bonavides expressed strong support for the so-called Fourth Transformation, Mexico’s ongoing political and social reform movement. He proudly confirmed that he is an active recipient of the Pensión del Bienestar for senior citizens, receiving the bimonthly benefit “with great pride.” He emphasized that this is the first time a federal administration has genuinely addressed the needs of older adults, highlighting the importance of inclusive social policies.

For migrants and diverse communities following Mexican politics from abroad, Bonavides’ return to the political stage under Morena signals a blend of cultural recognition and ongoing social commitment—elements that resonate with the party’s broader agenda of regeneration and inclusion.
