The tragic death of Abraham Ruiz Aguilar, owner of the Foxies bar in Puebla, has sparked conflicting narratives about the motive behind the killing. While the Puebla State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) is investigating the case as a targeted attack, Ruiz Aguilar’s family insists it was a violent robbery attempt.
On social media, relatives emphasized that the only truthful account comes from Ruiz Aguilar’s wife, who was present during the incident. According to Samantha Aguilar Alegre, a family member, the fatal gunshot to his head occurred when assailants tried to steal his recently acquired BMW and other personal belongings during an armed robbery in Puebla.
“Abraham unfortunately died as a result of a violent armed robbery he resisted, where they tried to take his BMW and personal items,” Samantha wrote on Facebook.
However, sources within the Puebla Fiscalía have dismissed the robbery theory as the primary motive. Investigators have uncovered details indicating the attack was directly aimed at Ruiz Aguilar. Notably, no personal items were taken, nor was there any attempt to forcibly remove him from his vehicle.
This case highlights the complexities surrounding violent crime investigations and the importance of thorough, evidence-based inquiry. As Puebla continues to develop infrastructure projects like the cablebús system, which aims to improve urban mobility and safety, addressing security concerns remains a critical challenge for the community.
