A TikTok user known as @lunadekusto shared a disturbing experience involving a man who appears to have a visual impairment and often asks for help navigating the streets of Puebla’s Centro Histórico. The incident, which she recounted in a video posted on social media, took place recently near a community dining hall on 9 Oriente street.
The young woman explained that she initially decided to assist the man but soon felt uncomfortable due to his behavior. According to her testimony, he gripped her hand tightly and, despite her attempts to pull away, continued holding her and even pinched her fingers. The situation escalated when, upon arriving at the dining hall, the man allegedly grabbed her by the neck and kissed her repeatedly on the cheek without consent.
“I couldn’t free myself because he held me very tightly,” she said, adding that the man made unsettling comments about her appearance and scent during the encounter.
Her warning to others is clear: “My mistake was trusting someone because of their disability and doubting what I was feeling.” The video has sparked reactions among Puebla residents, some claiming to have seen the same man in various parts of the historic center.
As of now, no formal complaint has been filed with the State Attorney General’s Office, and authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the allegations. The case remains a public warning shared on social media, with calls from users urging anyone with similar experiences to report them to the proper channels to ensure investigation.
This situation highlights the complex realities faced by vulnerable individuals in urban spaces. While the city of Puebla is advancing projects like the cable car system to improve mobility and safety in the area, incidents like this underscore the ongoing need for inclusive public policies that protect all citizens, especially women and marginalized groups, as they navigate daily life.
