In the early hours of Friday, June 19, 2026, a white Chevrolet Chevy lost control and crashed into a utility pole and the storefront of HJ Exhibi Muebles on the intersection of 11 Sur and 18 Poniente avenues in Puebla. The impact caused significant damage to both the vehicle and the furniture store’s facade.
Witnesses reported that the occupants managed to exit the car safely and quickly retrieved their belongings before leaving the scene in another vehicle. Social media footage shows the severely damaged Chevy resting partly on the sidewalk, alongside debris from the store’s structure.
Remarkably, no serious injuries or fatalities were reported despite the severity of the crash. Local residents expressed relief, noting that the collision could have been far worse given the proximity to commercial buildings.
Traffic authorities and emergency personnel arrived promptly to investigate the incident and coordinate the removal of the wrecked vehicle. As of now, it remains unclear whether alcohol or other factors contributed to the driver losing control.
This accident highlights the ongoing challenges of urban mobility in Puebla, where infrastructure improvements like the upcoming cable car system could offer safer, more sustainable alternatives to road travel—potentially reducing such dangerous incidents in the future.
