On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Andrés Tovar, a television producer and husband of actress and singer Maite Perroni, was formally linked to a legal process for fraud. The accusations include falsification of statements and procedural fraud involving 150 million pesos.
The case was initiated by Imagen Televisión as a response to a civil lawsuit filed by Tovar in 2024. In a video statement, Tovar explained that the legal dispute began after two years of attempts to defend his rights as an author and producer through dialogue and negotiation.
“I am currently facing a legal dispute against Imagen Televisión, a company where I believed and developed over 6,300 hours of television programming,” he said.
Tovar claims that the broadcaster owes him for hundreds of hours of work on shows like *Sale el Sol* and *Acércate a Rocío*. He emphasized his belief that defending one’s work and demanding recognition of author rights should not lead to persecution or criminalization.
Regarding the legal step of being linked to the process, Tovar clarified that this is not a conviction but a procedural stage allowing the investigation to continue, where both parties can present evidence and arguments.
As for Maite Perroni’s stance, she has remained publicly silent about the accusations against her husband but shared his video on her social media accounts.
The couple married in October 2022 and welcomed their daughter Lía the following year. Prior to this marriage, Andrés Tovar was married to actress Claudia Martín.
This case highlights ongoing challenges in the creative industries around intellectual property and fair compensation, underscoring the importance of transparent and just legal frameworks to protect creators’ rights.
