Security worries on Vía Atlixcáyotl in Puebla have flared up again after journalist Héctor Rodrigo Ortiz reported on Tuesday a new alleged attack linked to the so-called “Atlixcáyotl shooter.”

Ortiz shared on his X account that the latest victim was one of his closest friends, who recounted the incident that took place in the early hours of Thursday around 4:00 a.m. The event occurred on Vía Atlixcáyotl, just past the Niño Poblano bridge heading toward Atlixco.

“Another one from the Atlixcáyotl shooter! This time it was my best friend, and he just told me,” Ortiz wrote.

The affected individual is already in the process of filing a formal complaint with the authorities. Ortiz used this case to question whether law enforcement agencies are taking concrete steps to identify and stop the person responsible. “He’s already filing a complaint. Are the authorities taking action yet?” he asked.

In recent weeks, multiple drivers have reported attacks while driving on this major artery of Puebla’s metropolitan area. These incidents involve damage to windshields, windows, and car bodies, allegedly caused by projectiles or stones thrown at moving vehicles, mostly during early morning hours when traffic is light.

Although no official confirmation links all these events or confirms a single perpetrator, the term “Atlixcáyotl shooter” has gained traction on social media to describe these attacks.

Calls for increased surveillance have grown, especially near the Niño Poblano bridge and other hotspots where similar incidents have been reported. Authorities have yet to issue a specific statement on this latest case, but the victim’s complaint is expected to help advance investigations.
