On the afternoon and evening of Sunday, June 14, 2026, a man in San Pedro Cholula fatally wounded an alleged intruder who tried to rob his home in the San Agustín Calvario community.

Security forces responded to a report of a home robbery attempt on Hidalgo Street near the intersection with Santos Degollado. Upon arrival, officers from the Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) found a group of people pointing to a house.

When police knocked, the homeowner answered the door with visible bloodstains, though it was unclear if he was injured. He explained that an intruder had entered his home to commit a robbery, and during a struggle, he rendered the man unconscious in self-defense.

Officers requested permission to enter and check on the intruder’s condition. Inside, they found the man lying on the floor, bloodied and motionless. Paramedics were called, but they confirmed the man had no vital signs. Authorities have not disclosed the nature of the injuries.

The homeowner was detained by police and taken to their facilities for the necessary legal procedures. Meanwhile, SSC officers secured the property and reported the homicide to the Public Ministry.

Later, investigators and forensic experts from Puebla’s Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) arrived to carry out the official investigation and corpse removal.

This incident highlights the complex realities of self-defense and public safety in communities like San Pedro Cholula, where residents face challenges protecting their homes. It also underscores the importance of effective, humane security policies that balance citizens’ rights with the rule of law.
