América Isabel Acosta Hernández, a promising young goalkeeper who played in the youth categories of Mazatlán FC’s women’s team, was found dead at the age of 19. Authorities confirmed her passing after she received medical attention.
Acosta was part of the ‘Cañoneras’ youth system from 2020 to 2023 and was regarded as a talented player with a bright future guarding the goal.
According to official reports, América Acosta was discovered lifeless in a home located in the Villa Unión sindicatura, south of Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
Municipal Public Security officers responded to a call about an unconscious woman in the Buena Vista neighborhood. Upon arrival, alongside paramedics, they confirmed that the young athlete showed no signs of life.
The security forces, together with Villa Unión firefighters, attended the emergency report. After providing prehospital care, the area was secured for the corresponding investigations, and her body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo), according to the official statement.
As of now, the cause of death remains unknown.
